During the fourth edition of the "Sustainable Airports" program in Brazil, the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) rewarded the airports of Rio Branco, Cruzeiro do Sul, Tefé, Porto Velho, and Salvador Bahia, members of the VINCI Airports network, for their sustainable practices. For 4 consecutive years, Salvador Bahia airport has been recognized as the most sustainable airport in Brazil. Again this year, it was named in the category handling more than five million passengers a year.

This event presented the actions emanating from the airports' environmental action plans, led by VINCI Airports, the operator of Salvador Bahia airport since 2017 and 7 airports in Amazonia including Rio Branco, Cruzeiro do Sul, Tefé and Porto Velho airports since 2022.

An internal environmental awareness program, partnerships with federal universities for research and with NGOs to combat animal trafficking, the adoption of efficient lighting and the automation of lighting and refrigeration systems to save electricity have all been initiated, as have measures to reduce water consumption. Waste management practices were also implemented, with the acquisition of waste collectors produced from 100% recyclable and recycled materials, as well as actions to reduce carbon emissions and manage aircraft noise.
