VINCI Airports celebrates a new direct connection between Budapest and Lyon-Saint Exupéry
VINCI Airports celebrates the new route directly connecting two airports in its network: Lyon-Saint Exupéry in France and Budapest Airport in Hungary which joined the VINCI Airports network in June 2024. Operated by easyJet, it offers passengers a long-awaited connection between the two cities twice a week.
On 21 August, passengers on the inaugural flight were welcomed in the Hungarian capital Budapest, the main point of entry into the country by air, handling 96% of national air traffic.
Within the network of airports operated by VINCI Airports, Budapest Airport is also connected to London Gatwick, Belgrade and Lisbon.
In 2023, traffic at Budapest Airport reached 90% of its pre-health crisis level, while in the first six months of 2024 it exceeded 2019 traffic by more than 7% with 7.9 million passengers. In addition, the airport has positive prospects for the future, particularly given the development of tourism in the country.
In Lyon, easyJet also announced the opening of two other routes in the autumn: Berlin, in Germany and Newcastle, in England. This brings to 50 the number of destinations served by the orange company from Lyon-Saint Exupéry.
