Since February, Lyon Airport has been offering passengers with invisible disabilities the option to discreetly signal their needs to airport staff through the use of sunflower lanyards, available in the airport terminals. By joining the international Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, in line with VINCI Airports’ quality of service policy, the airport strengthens its commitment to providing more inclusive hospitality and tailored assistance throughout the passenger journey.

Passengers with invisible disabilities can obtain a sunflower lanyard free of charge in the airport terminals. This subtle but recognized symbol enables specially-trained airport teams to adapt their assistance throughout the journey, from arrival at the airport to boarding the plane.

Lyon Airport thus joins a program already implemented in over 280 airports and 18 airlines around the world, including Belfast and Edinburgh airports - both part of the VINCI Airports network. Designed to make travel more accessible to all, the program is also well-known at London Gatwick Airport, which is behind the widely acclaimed Sunflower Lanyard initiative.

This new initiative complements the existing audio guidance system at Lyon Airport for visually impaired passengers. Audio beacons installed along the passenger pathway broadcast messages providing directional and contextual information, helping travelers move through the airport serenely.
