VINCI Airports announces important improvements to the Las Américas International Airport in Santo Domingo
VINCI Airports, concessionaire of 6 airports in the Dominican Republic through its subsidiary AERODOM, announced important improvements to Las Américas Airport serving Dominican Republic´s capital city Santo Domingo, as part of an expansion and modernization project that seeks to transform the face of the airport.
With an investment of more than thirty million dollars, VINCI Airports will be executing a series of projects that include the remodeling of the Santo Domingo Airport (Las Americas)'s arrival area, renovation of the roofs, facades, lighting, information systems and air conditioning, as well as the expansion and renovation of the vehicle parking lot in order to improve passenger experience.
With the focus on achieving a successful and sustainable environmental transition, VINCI Airports is creating a roof of approximately 3,600 square meters at the airport terminal that will allow rainwater recovery. It is also in the final phase of construction of an additional 1.5 MWP solar power plant on the roof of the airport terminal.
The vehicle parking lot is being remodeled and expanded, including 400 additional parking spaces and renewing the gardening, road surface and signaling. This will allow to improve the distribution and flow of vehicles.
The check-in lobbies in the Departures area; as well as the entire Arrivals area will receive a complete renovation that includes changing floors and ceilings, as well as replace existing decoration with new and modern elements.
In the interest of modernizing the appearance of the terminal, coatings (ventilated façade type) will be installed on the entire aerial façade of the terminal. Likewise, the construction of a new Baggage Handling System (BHS) is currently underway, which includes a new management and classification system with modern security inspection and baggage classification machines, with triple redundancy.
